2015 seventy-eight

We drove to Boise with the Corner Canyon High School lacrosse team as they played in the Idaho Invitational.  Tonight they beat a Washington team 9-5
So fun to have Anthony and Ariel come and support!

2015 seventy-seven

I loved watching Blake today at his Utah History program.
He was Jedediah Smith, the Mountain Man that was Mauled by a Bear.

Feel free to get comfortable at the dentist's office.

2015 seventy

A familiar scene from last year.  Blake made the math bowl again.
He was so cute up there and I'm a proud mama!
This week we are studying ISO and White Balance.
White Balance and Metering will be my biggest challenge, but I am determined!!!
I bribed the girls with an Orange Peel Smoothie if they would just have fun and be patient with me.
Thank you sweet girls.  You did great!

2015 sixty-six

I must have taken a thousand pictures today.  This is the only one I dared turn in for my final assignment.  (I also posted the silhouette ones and an image of Zack facing off.)

2015 sixty-five

It's game time!!!! We were in Mexico for their first game against Davis, but were able to watch it on sfan.tv.  Part of me was glad, because it was snowing and 31 degrees.
Tonight they played Bingham and won 17-5 (Zack #1 scored 6 goals and Max #23 scored 1) Fun, fun game to watch!
 Well for me...

After the game I tried some more images of stopped motion.  I loved the silhouettes and the jet stream.

2015 sixty-four

This week's lesson is on Shutter Speed.
Our assignment was to submit two images: 1. blurring motion & 2. stopping motion.
I had to wait all day for the kiddos to return home from school so I could try some different examples.  I really struggled with this assignment and am glad these two were half-way decent.  I walked in the house so frustrated and told Jim I was sorry I made him buy me an expensive camera because I will never be a good photographer and that I should just give up.  He was a little surprised and just asked why I thought the boys were good at lacrosse...they practice a lot.  I love how all of life's lessons relate to lacrosse, haha, he's so cute.  And I agree, I have a lot of practicing to do.

2015 fifty-four

Happy 10th Birthday to Blake!
Spoiled all day with Dad's breakfast in bed (german pancakes, bacon, chocolate milk and orange juice), his very own pizza for lunch and a lunch date with mom and all these silly boys, and a birthday party with 7 friends at airborne at night.  Including crepes and birthday cake.
We love you so much...now stop growing so fast!
Brynn attempted the obstacle course and did pretty good!
Flipping during dodgeball.
an toe touches!
We were so happy to have Zack and Max join us after lacrosse practice.  These boys played dodgeball 75% of their time.

2015 fifty

My Models for the day
Brooklyn had to leave so Blake was my next subject.

(I tweeked this image of Blake in Lightroom a little, but did it off the histogram that I took a quiz on yesterday...and missed one)
These next three are SOOC (straight out of the camera...no editing allowed)
My second assignment is to shoot two more subjects with three different backgrounds.  I should know what meter reading he should be and the exposure should be right on in each situation.  I haven't submitted or received feedback yet, so I don't know how good (or bad) I did.

I have to say that I love his ripped pants, skinned knee and arm, and dirty arm!  He's such a boy!

And a little fun with the self-portrait also SOOC haha

2015 forty-nine

Blake has been working hard this year and tonight he earned his Bear!
It was the Blue and Gold Banquet and they had yummy dutch oven breakfast casserole, pancakes, and fruit (I was so glad it wasn't hot dogs or mac and cheese).
They also had a special visitor tell about the beginning of scouting, the founder Robert Powell.  The kids loved his accent and the stories he told.

A tradition in this pack is when they earn their Wolf or Bear, they have to go in the tent for a "Bear Attack".  Which was Jim who growled and messed up his hair.  The boys love it!
 Congrats Bud...on to Weeblos!
My photography subject for the day (SOOC).
Assignment #1 Metering for proper exposure
My feedback was mostly positive.

2015 forty-four

Today Elizabeth left.  Tears were shed.
We sent her with Sees Candy, a Photo Book of Salt Lake City, and a salt and pepper grinder.
Then she surprised the kids with gifts. We were all shocked!
Legos and a Lego Batman Clock for Blake, cute Taiwan note books and pens for Brooklyn, and cards for the rest of us.  So sweet!

Fridays are late days for Brynn so we had lots of time for the triple heart hair-do again this year!
Valentine Parties!  This was the only one that turned out.
Then later in the day this came in the mail.  Elizabeth had ordered this camera for Brynn!  She had one and the girls were in love with it. A FUGI Insta Mini 8 (a polaroid).  She could not hold in her excitement!  In fact I used this as a perfect opportunity to finally capture her new braces, which she hasn't let me photograph yet,  sneaky mom!

2015 forty-one

Today I was so blessed to join Blake on his 4th grade field trip to the Natural History Museum.  I was the chaperone for these three cuties.
Having fun on the observation deck.

 Loving the EXTREME Mammal Exhibit.

 Blake loved the rock displays
They spent a lot of time flooding the Salt Lake Valley
